The national association Un Toit, Deux Générations allows seniors to accommodate young people for a modest rent. The formula works almost everywhere in France and would like to extend to Yutz in particular. An information day is scheduled for Thursday 4 May.
Intergenerational cohabitation in two words
This is a solidarity scheme that allows a senior with a free room to accommodate a young person either free of charge in exchange for a little benevolent presence in the evening and at night, or in return for an occupancy allowance largely lower than the rental market price. In any case, making the choice of intergenerational cohabitation implies on both sides a commitment to sharing, conviviality and solidarity.

Un Toit, Deux Générations is an association belonging to the SOS group which makes it possible to make the link between young people and seniors and to supervise the formalities relating to this mode of shared accommodation. Precisely, Thursday, May 4, the association gives an appointment room Bestien for an afternoon of information.
All questions will be addressed. Why live with a young person? What are the counterparties? What is the legal framework? The conference will be followed by the screening of the film Thomas’s Birthday, directed by Jean-Paul Menichetti, who is none other than the founder of the Villerupt Italian Film Festival.
Why in Yutz?
Like other towns in the north of Moselle, Yutz signed an agreement with the association One roof, two generations last November. “We are totally in favor of intergenerational shared accommodation”, indicate the mayor, Clémence Pouget, and her assistant, Lauren Poulain.
They see it as one of the possible answers to the shortage of student housing in the agglomeration, but also a way of curbing the isolation of the elderly. “It’s a good mix, which can only be beneficial for both parties.” The essential remains: that the existence of such a device exists. This is the challenge of the upcoming information meeting.
