If you’re a Mac fan, 2022 may have disappointed you, as Apple’s slate of Macs last year was surprisingly light and there were far fewer Macs than expected, suggesting that much was expected on the part of Mac users to get it. On more modern Macs in 2023, at a spring event soon.
But what exactly do we hope to see?

Apple Silicon Mac Pro
While nearly every Mac has at least one model with Apple silicon, there’s one device that hasn’t made the transition yet: the Mac Pro. Perhaps Apple needed more time to perfect a chip that can meet the demands of power users. It looks like the company is almost ready to unveil its edge computing backbone.
There have been rumors around the Mac Pro that the super-powerful chip Apple was developing for the Mac Pro — the M2 Extreme — has apparently been discarded, with Apple settling on the smaller M2 Urtla.
Then came the news that the next Mac Pro would have neither a new design nor user-expandable memory.
All of this news is disappointing, so it remains to be seen if Apple’s first silicon-made Mac Pro will attract the demanding users it wants.
The device is expected to appear at a spring event in the coming months, so we won’t have much time to find out.
MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch
Over the years, Apple has released new MacBook Pro models in the fall.
It didn’t happen in 2022 (for the first time since 2000), which means Apple’s professional laptops are already over.
On the plus side, a new MacBook Pro is coming in 2023 — but we won’t see any seismic changes.
The devices are expected to get new chipsets, namely the M2 Pro and M2 Max, which will be a modest upgrade from the existing M1 Pro and M1 Max.
Other than that, we don’t think there will be many changes, although the chassis and screen will likely remain the same.
Currently, these MacBook Pro models are slated to attend Apple’s rumored spring event.
Given historical trends, it will likely drop in March or April.
The 15-inch MacBook Air
Even though the MacBook Air is 15 years old, Apple has never deviated from the 11- and 13-inch sizes.
However, if the rumors are true, things could change later this year.
Multiple sources have claimed that Apple is not only working on a larger 15-inch MacBook Air, but that it could launch in 2023.
This gives MacBook Air fans a second size to choose from for the first time since the 11-inch model dropped in 2016.
Rumors claim that the 15-inch MacBook Air will have a 15.5-inch screen.
Otherwise, it will likely be an enhanced version of the 13-inch MacBook Air.
It looks like OLED screens are in the works, but they won’t be ready until 2024.
The next generation Mac Mini
Besides the Mac Pro, there is another Mac with an Intel chip: the Mac Mini.
Although this computer offers Apple’s silicon models, it still uses the latest M1 chipset. All of this means that the Mac Mini range is well worth the upgrade.
The upgrade is expected to happen at Apple’s spring event, where the Mac mini will receive an M2 chipset and possibly an M2 Pro option.
This means that we will finally see the end of production of Intel’s Mac Mini, a computer that runs on an outdated processor.
There are conflicting rumors about what other changes we should expect in the next Mac mini.
Journalist Mark Gorman and candidate John Prosser claimed that the device will feature an updated design and more ports.
While analyst Ming Shi Kua confirmed that the Mac mini will likely use the same design as the current model.
Since the iMac Pro was discontinued around 2021, there have been rumors that Apple is working on a successor.
It looks like the company is almost ready to introduce its PC to the world, as its release date is in late 2023.
It is not currently clear if the device will be branded as an iMac Pro or just a larger iMac.
If it’s the former, expect “professional” design options (silver and space gray), while the latter will likely use the bright colors of the current 24-inch iMac.
Anyway, we expect the big iMac to use M3 generation chips, most likely the M3 Pro and M3 Max.
It could also come with a high-end display, possibly like Apple’s Pro Display XDR.
24-inch iMac
The iMac Pro may return, while the 24-inch iMac is due for an update.
The current model was launched in the spring of 2021, and two years before the new version.
Like the iMac Pro, we can expect the next iMac to be equipped with the M3 chipset, although in this case we are waiting for the M3 and nothing more advanced than the M3 Pro.
It will likely continue with the same colorful designs as the current model.
Little is known about the next iMac at the moment, which indicates that the update will likely be minor and likely limited to chip upgrades only.
Rumors point to a late 2023 launch date, so we’ll still be waiting for a while.
What about the 13-inch MacBook Pro?
The 13-inch MacBook Pro is a sore thumb in Apple’s lineup of Macs and is a strong contender for being Apple’s worst-end MacBook.
It has similar performance and fewer ports than the MacBook Air M2, but it costs more.
Could we see a new version in 2023?
Since the latest update of the 13-inch MacBook Pro took place at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June 2022, there are doubts that Apple will introduce a new version just a year after introducing the latest model.
Will Apple remove it from the Mac menu instead?
It’s unclear at this point, though we’d love for Apple to do this and streamline its Mac offering, but that the company needs to lower the price of the 14-inch MacBook Pro to sell at least one MacBook. Professional at the right price.
This seems unlikely, so the 13-inch model will likely continue into 2023.
