Ex-Bangladesh DG Intelligence granted physical remand in murder case

(24 News) Major General Zia-ul-Hasan, who was dismissed from the post of DG Intelligence after the end of Hasina Wajid’s government in Bangladesh, has been remanded in physical custody in the murder case.

According to Bangladeshi media, former Major General Ziaul Hasan has been remanded in the case of the murder of a shopkeeper in Dhaka’s Newmarket area in July. A heavy contingent of army, Bangladesh border guard and police was deployed in the court premises on the occasion of General Zia-ul-Ahsan’s court appearance.

It should be noted that Major General Ziaul Hasan was dismissed from his post on August 6. He is considered to be close to the resigned Prime Minister Hasina Wajid. In the announcement, it was stated that Major General Zia Ul Hasan has been dismissed from his job. The agency’s responsibilities include monitoring the situation in the country, collecting data and recording communication materials, besides the agency is also allowed to monitor emails and social media accounts and record phone calls.

It should be remembered that on August 7, it was reported by the Bangladeshi media that the dismissed Major General Zia Ul Hasan was arrested while fleeing from Bangladesh to Dubai. Major General Zia-ul-Hassan was going to Dubai by a private airline flight, but he was arrested by blocking the plane back from the runway before take-off.
