“As a Governor, I have appointed 27 Vice-Chancellors to Tamil Nadu Universities during my tenure,” he said, adding that it would be good for the Punjab government to learn from him how to do such work.

“I don’t even know who is talented and who is not in Punjab. However, I am working with the main aim of improving the quality of education,” he said.

When Purohit was the Governor of Tamil Nadu, there was an allegation that he had arbitrarily appointed several vice-chancellors, taking advantage of various disturbances in the AIADMK leadership.

Anna University Vice-Chancellor Surappa, who was embroiled in various controversies and irregularities, was appointed by Panwarilal Purohit.

In this case, it has been said that the posts of vice-chancellor were sold in the AIADMK regime, which has caused controversy.
