The Frunzensky District Court of the capital of Primorye today granted the request of the investigation and detained the former head of the city, Oleg Gumenyuk. The former head of the city does not admit his guilt.

“A preventive measure has been chosen in the form of detention for a period of two months,” said Aurora Rimskaya, a representative of the Investigation Department of the TFR in Primorye. She added that the ex-mayor was charged with committing a crime under Part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (taking bribes on an especially large scale).

“According to the investigation, in the period from 2019 to 2021, the accused regularly received bribes in the form of money from the management of the Necropolis MUPV and through intermediaries for general patronage in the provision of funeral services. In total, over 19.5 million rubles were transferred to him during this time, ”the investigation said.

Oleg Gumenyuk resigned from the post of mayor of Vladivostok on May 18, after the presidential envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, Yuri Trutnev, complained to him about the quality of the repair of the children’s technopark, and the governor of Primorye Oleg Kozhemyako said that the work of the mayor does not satisfy the residents. On July 29, Konstantin Shestakov was elected the head of Vladivostok.
