A shooting at the Professor Helena Kolody State College, in Cambé, north of Paraná, left a 17-year-old student and another 16-year-old young man dead. According to the Government of that state and the Military Police, the perpetrator of the attack is a 21-year-old former student, who was arrested and taken to the neighboring city of Londrina.
Karoline Verri Alves, who lost her life in the attack, was an altar server in the parish of Santo Antônio de Cambé, where her parents serve as coordinators of a Catholic community. The other student was the young woman’s boyfriend and passed away this Tuesday morning.
According to the head of the Londrina Civil Police, Fernando Amarantino Ribeiro, the former student declared that he had been a victim of harassment when he attended that school, until 2014, and that he planned everything in recent months. The gunman further stated that the attack would be revenge for the offenses he suffered in the past.
