The incident came as a shock after the woman complained that her husband’s death was suspected and the body was dug up 16 days later for autopsy.
Babykala (40) – Somasekar couple from Ponniamman Kovil Street, Sainathapuram, Vellore. Both were first married and had a second marriage after divorce. After the marriage, Somasekhar and his mother allegedly locked Babykala in the house and abused her. She had lodged a complaint against her husband and mother-in-law at the Babykala Bhagayam police station on the 19th of last month.
On the same day, Baby Kala went to her mother’s house in Chennai. Then, on the 28th of last month, Baby Kala went with her relatives to the Bhagayam police station and asked them to call her husband and interrogate him. Babykala’s husband was pronounced dead at the scene on April 21 and was cremated the next day.
Babykala was shocked to hear this and later buried her body without informing her mother-in-law and her relatives about her husband’s death. She also complained to the Bhagayam police station that her husband’s death was suspected and that the body should be autopsied.
Following this, Somasekar’s body, which was buried 16 days ago, was exhumed and autopsied in the presence of the Revenue Department, the Medical Committee and the Police. The Bhagayam police are investigating the matter.
