San Salvador. For 30 more days, starting on October 14, El Salvador will remain under the Exception Regime, in order to maintain effective territorial control until it is freed from the last gang member, according to the arguments of the deputies who support the measure.

A total of 67 deputies gave their support to the initiative, considering that it is necessary to continue the fight against gangs and guarantee the peace and tranquility of the Salvadoran population.

The extension, which will be in effect from October 14 to November 22, comes two days after the body of a 7-year-old girl was found in the La Campanera neighborhood in Soyapango, which gave rise to the establishment of a security fence in its surroundings, which was extended to the Valle Verde and Popotlán colonies, of Apopa.

“It is necessary to extend the emergency regime to remove the last that remains of the cancerous tumor of the gangs,” justified the head of the New Ideas bench, deputy Christian Guevara, “if this is not done, it will grow again and make people sick.” El Salvador” he added.

Those who support the Exception Regime claimed that the opposition does not give its votes, because the detainees mean lost votes for their parties, since not only had they been given municipalities wrongly called sanctuaries, but they were trained in shooting ranges.

“Arena and the FMLN, since the previous legislature, boycotted the security of this country, they were inefficient in fighting the gangs. The Government of President Nayib Bukele has brought peace and tranquility to families,” said the deputy.

Meanwhile, Congresswoman Alexia Rivas expressed that some Salvadorans living abroad interpret that, since Arena and the FMLN do not vote in favor of extending the Exception Regime, “they are defending criminals.”
