Heavy rains in the Malampuzha Dam catchment area in Kerala’s Palakkad district have released excess water in the dam.

As the dam reached 368.45 feet yesterday out of the full capacity of 377.50 feet, excess water was released through four sluices of the dam. Due to this, Mooga Kalpathi Parali Bharatpuzha rivers have flooded. Officials have advised people living along the river to be cautious. Following the heavy rains, 263 people have been sheltered in seven relief camps set up in the Alattur taluks of Chittur Mannarkadu in the district.
