San Salvador. The Vice Minister of Diaspora and Human Mobility, Cindy Mariella Portal, presided over the inauguration of the regional exchange of good practices on the Comprehensive Protection and Solutions Framework (MIRPS), which will take place over two days.

Called “Access to mental health services and psychosocial support for displaced families as a key aspect of integration,” the event was organized in coordination with the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) and the Organization of American States (OAS).

Vice Minister Portal expressed that the Government of El Salvador promotes mental health programs and services that guarantee these vulnerable populations timely care based on their needs.

During the event you will have the opportunity to learn about the good practices of the countries that make up the MIRPS, which have provided concrete initiatives and elements to face the challenges that still persist in the region.

“Our country will share what is related to psychosocial support to the refugee population and asylum seekers, which the Commission for the Determination of the Condition of Refugees (CODER) is providing, with the support and accompaniment of UNHCR,” said the official. .

He highlighted that, since March of this year, they have been working on the development of an inter-institutional Protocol for the comprehensive care of refugees and refugee seekers, which considers the psychosocial area.

The Salvadoran Institute for the Development of Women (ISDEMU) provides, through the entrepreneurship and microbusiness program, support to displaced women or women at risk of displacement and survivors of gender-based violence and forced displacement.

In addition, she stated that, in terms of gender, there is the “126 te Orienta” platform, which seeks to provide guidance and support to mobile women in El Salvador, who may be victims of gender violence in countries of origin, transit and destiny.

The representatives of the eight member countries of the MIRPS visited the support space “At your side”, in San Salvador, a space that offers comprehensive assistance at the local level for internally displaced people and people at risk of displacement, asylum seekers, refugees and returnees in need of protection.
