Burundi holds the presidency of the African Union (AU) Peace Council in August: Situation in Niger discussed

Addis Ababa (Ethiopia, Capital of the African Union), 4/08/2023 – As part of its foreign policy based on diplomatic initiatives, the remarkable Ambassador of Burundi to Ethiopia, Mr. Nyamitwe Willywarmly received Mr. Oke Francis Gabriel, Permanent Representative of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to the AU, during a meeting at the embassy. During their exchanges, the situation in Niger, marked by a military coup that overthrew the regime of Mohamed Basoumwas at the heart of the discussions.

In this month of August 2023, within the new multipolar world, Burundi holds the presidency of the Peace and Security Council of the African Union. In this context, many pan-African African countries show their support for the military coup movements seen in West Africa, emanating from the young African generation, which opposes democratized post-colonial states under the neo-colonial influence of France, being itself at the service of the GUAN [1].
