Kochi: Cannabis was seized during an excise inspection at a private school in Kothamangalam. The ganja was seized from the room of Saju Biju, the security guard of the school. He ran away after seeing the excise, but five people who came to buy ganja from him were taken into custody. All the five arrested are natives of Watatupara.
Excise had received information that Saju, who has been working as a security guard at the school for many years, was selling ganja based here. With this, Saju was under the surveillance of the excise. Then last night, the excise team visited his room for inspection. But Saju ran away seeing the excise team. Meanwhile, five youths who were believed to have come to buy ganja were taken into custody.
Saju, a security guard, was staying in the same room in the school premises. According to the Excise, many outsiders used to come to his room to buy ganja at night. It is also suspected that ganja was sold to school students. Moreover, the Excise also said that he had provided facilities for those coming from outside to use ganja in the school premises.
The excise team has sought the help of the police to find the escaped Saju. The investigation is being conducted on the location of his mobile phone tower.
