Excitement Builds as Max Verstappen Aims for Home Victory at the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort

by time news

The fifteenth round of the Formula 1 World Championship takes place at the Zandvoort Circuit, where Max Verstappen aims to clinch victory in his home country and take a giant step toward capturing his fourth consecutive drivers’ title. The nearly month-long break for the mid-season holidays will serve to assess the progress of the teams.

Verstappen has 277 points in first place, thanks to 7 wins in 14 races and a total of nine podiums. His dominance has waned in the recent grands prix, where the Red Bull leader has gone four consecutive races without a win.

The one arriving ‘charged’ is undoubtedly seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton. The Englishman is clearly improving and has added two wins in the last three races, at Silverstone (British GP) and Spa-Francorchamps (Belgian GP). The Briton has 150 points and has risen to sixth place in the drivers’ championship, 12 points behind Carlos Sainz Jr. (Ferrari, with 162).

In second place in the standings is fellow Englishman Lando Norris, who finished fifth in Belgium. The McLaren driver has secured one victory and has a 22-point lead over the other Ferrari driver, the Monegasque Charles Leclerc (third in the championship with 177 points).

Another big name in recent races has been Norris’s McLaren teammate, Óscar Piastri, who achieved his first victory at the Hungarian GP and finished second in Belgium. Therefore, the Formula 1 circuit is more open than expected as 2024 approaches.

Checo Pérez, on the other hand, is far behind his teammate Verstappen at Red Bull, with only 131 points in seventh place. The Mexican also needs to redeem himself in this Dutch Grand Prix, especially considering that Lewis Hamilton is clearly gaining momentum as the season progresses.

Fernando Alonso, meanwhile, is looking for a solid result to bring some joy to a rather bleak season. He has only 49 points in ninth place in the drivers’ championship. The Asturian finished in eighth place at Spa and wants to do better in Zandvoort.

The 2024 Dutch Grand Prix will be held from Friday, August 23 to Sunday, August 25. It takes place at the Zandvoort circuit, where a great atmosphere is expected from the Dutch public, who will support Max Verstappen unconditionally.
