Sarah Brunstad, the editor, kicked off the panel by expressing her appreciation for the large crowd, saying, “My heart is so full, thank you for being here.” The discussion covered various topics, including the experiences of women working in the industry today and what’s next for Marvel’s woman-led projects.
One of the highlights of the event was the announcement of a new season of the Women of Marvel podcast. The upcoming season, premiering on September 6, will feature character spotlights on Jean Grey, Shuri, Gwen Stacy, Kate Bishop (Hawkeye), Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel), Echo, and more.
Attendees at the panel were treated to an exclusive giveaway of a special variant cover of Captain Marvel: Dark Tempest (2023) #1 by Mike McKone. The cover, written by Ann Nocenti and penciled by Paolo Villanelli, delighted lucky fans.
Sana Amanat, the co-founder of the Women of Marvel podcast, expressed her excitement at being back at the panel. She and Judy Stephens started the podcast, which originated from the successful Women of Marvel panels. Amanat emphasized the importance of collaboration and networking in the industry, encouraging aspiring writers and industry professionals to connect with each other and build relationships.
“Look around. I want you to look around. These people are going to be your allies, your collaborators, or co-conspirators. Rely on them, get to know them,” Amanat cheered.
