The two employers’ organisations, Afep and Medef, do not revise their corporate governance code every day. The last changes date from almost three years ago. Each new version is therefore a political signal. The message is addressed to the public authorities on the fact that employers are capable of imposing rules on themselves and to companies on the need to seize them, at the risk otherwise of seeing the law take care of them.
This time is no exception to the rule since the revision unveiled on Tuesday focuses on CSR issues (social and environmental responsibility) and in particular on climate issues. The subject is at the heart of local discussions, while environmental issues are at the heart of public debate.
