With his speech this Monday evening, Emmanuel Macron hoped to turn the page on pensions. However, the subject promises to return quickly to public debate, given the persistent financial imbalances.

While it was designed to bring the pension system back into balance in 2030, the reform could indeed leave a deficit of between 7 and 20 billion euros by this horizon. This is what emerges from a study published on Tuesday by the Rexecode Institute. “The situation of public finances remains constrained after the reform”, warns the document.
