The finalist works and the “Second Life, everything comes back” competition were presented yesterday at the Rome headquarters of the Maire Foundation, as part of the “Between Art and Ingenuity” event. “Second Life, everything comes back” is a project now in its second edition and promoted by Alia Multiutility Toscana in collaboration with the Maire Foundation.

The Maire Foundation, inaugurated at the end of 2021, promotes the conservation and knowledge of the Maire Group’s archival heritage and accompanies the training of young talents and humanist engineers of tomorrow, capable of contributing to the energy and digital transition of the future. Through art and culture, the Foundation carries out training projects and projects to combat educational poverty with schools, universities and the third sector.

In this context, the partnership of “Second Life, everything returns” was born, a project which saw the participation of around two hundred Italian artists in the two editions, all under the age of thirty, curated by Professor Marco Meneguzzo. The 30 finalist works of the second 2023 edition, selected by a qualified jury, made up of representatives of the main Tuscan cultural institutions, help us reflect on the importance of our daily gestures for respecting the environment and for giving a second life to the material, observing the 4R rule: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recovery. Topics at the center of the sustainability and business strategy of the entire Maire Group.

A special mention was given to Federico Ferroni’s work “Decay”, created on iron plates which “with an impactful material solidity well represents the global vision, the urgency of an intervention for sustainability and the valorisation of materials of recovery, so close to the actions of the Maire Foundation”.

Fabrizio Di Amato, President of the Foundation and the Maire Group, declared: “The Foundation and the Maire Group open the doors of one of the offices in Rome to welcome and celebrate the talent of the new generations. We reward young talents in artistic disciplines for their ability to interpret the present and the future, and we train “humanist engineers” who pay attention to multidisciplinarity, professionals who know how to guide the energy, digital and technological transition in an effective way , economically sustainable and respectful of the environment, people and culture”.
