Former soccer player Marcelinho Carioca was released this Monday (18) from captivity where he had been kidnapped since Sunday, after leaving an event in the eastern area of São Paulo. According to Alessandra Zanchetta, Marcelinho’s advisor, the former athlete is headed to the police station and must be taken to the DHPP (Department of Homicide and Protection of Persons), in the central region of the capital.
The former athlete was missing after participating in an event at the Neo Química Arena, in the eastern area of São Paulo. His car was found abandoned on Jacareí Street, in Itaquaquecetuba, in the metropolitan area of São Paulo, this Monday morning (18).
Four people were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the disappearance of the former player. According to the Civil Police, two men would have received bank transfers that came from Marcelinho Carioca’s account. In a statement, the SSP (Public Security Secretariat) stated that the incident was classified as disappearance of person and location of vehicle in the Mogi das Cruzes Sectional Delegation.
