Analysis of Exoprimal for Xbox Series X.

The story of Exprimal It is, to say the least, curious. In the not too distant future, in the year 2040strange vortices are appearing everywhere and they begin to come out hordes of dinosaurs. As if that were not enough, some of these prehistoric reptiles are mutated and pose an even greater threat. Three years later, we will put ourselves in the role of Acean ex-soldier of the squad Hammerheadswhich crashes on the island the twin because of one of these portals that appeared out of nowhere during a routine patrol mission.
On the island we will meet Leviathanan AI developed by the megacorporation Aibius Corp which predicts where the vortices will open. This Artificial Intelligence has taken control and locks us with our companions in an endless cycle of combat simulations against hundreds of dinosaurs. Besides, These simulations will make us travel to the pastjust at the moment when it all started.
To survive this macabre loop, we will have at our disposal some high-tech exo-armor. Our task as members of the Hammerheads squad will be to put on one of these robotic suits to contain the invasion and discover its origin.
What do I wear today?
As we told you, we are facing a 5v5 online multiplayer third-person shooter. At the beginning of the game we can choose between the different types of exosuits that best suit our style of play. These armors will be of three types and will establish the roles that we can adopt: assault, tank or support. Each class has various models with their own abilities and special attacks. In addition, we will have the possibility of equipping them with improvement chips or customizing them with skins and stickers.
The assault exosuits, for example, will be focused on the attack at close and medium range. For their part, tanks are ideal for going to the front. They resist large amounts of damage and their playstyle focuses on protecting the rest or containing hordes. Finally, we have the support suits, ideal for boosting or healing our teammates.
But the best thing is that we won’t be stuck in the same class all the time. One of the great novelties of Exoprimal is that we can change armor and, therefore, abilities as many times as we want. Not only at the end of the game, but also during it. This will allow us to adapt to the future of the combats and change our strategy, taking advantage of the advantages of each armor. This feature is much more enjoyable when playing with friends.
It’s raining velociraptors
For now, Exoprimal only has one game mode: Jurassic Tide. This is where we start matchmaking games with the other players. These will basically consist of compete against another team to complete the objectives that the AI Leviathan order us as quickly as possible and before our rival. At the end of each round, we will have to face the other team or, on the contrary, join them to overcome a greater challenge.
Leviathan will have no mercy on us and will open portals from which, literally, it will rain dozens of velociraptors. These moments are pure adrenaline and are reminiscent of other games like Back 4 Blood o World War Z. But not always the enemies will be 2-meter lizards. Sometimes vastly larger and deadlier beasts like the tyrannosaurushe triceratops or the fearsome carnotaurussome with mutations that make them even stronger.
Completing games we will go up levels. Not only player, but also armor. Although the most interesting thing is that we will unlock cinematics of the surreal plot.
Good, original, but not perfect
At the performance level, Exoprimal complies outstandingly. Such amounts of enemies on the screen almost instinctively leads one to think that the game will have some FPS drop. Surprisingly, in the hours that I have been playing to carry out this analysis, I have not come across any. The game is going like a shot on Series X and the servers are working correctly.
Graphically, we are facing an original title. Capcom knows how to create colorful designs that captivate us as soon as we see them, something that happens with armor. We can affirm that in this aspect it also stands out satisfactorily. But given its intergenerational nature, it lacks a touch of showmanship. This is especially noticeable in the visual effects of the confrontations.
The sound section does not particularly attract attention. Beyond the music of the main menu or the selection screen, we will not find memorable themes. Regarding the dubbing, although the game is available in Spanish, I personally recommend playing it in English or Japanese with subtitles. The Spanish voices don’t have a very good intonation, especially the AI Leviathan.

Exoprimal is a very fun title that wins integers if we play with friends. A third-person online multiplayer shooter struggling to survive in the market with a rather original story. Unfortunately, it is weighed down by the lack of variety in game modes, microtransactions and a system of lootboxes with random content which, personally, I think is somewhat outdated. Its high starting price doesn’t help either. However, if you have a subscription to Game Pass, you can play it for free on Xbox and PC. Something that leads us to think even more that Exoprimal is created to be a game as a service.
