/ Naeem Al-Majidi, the Iraqi boxer living abroad in America, announced his withdrawal from representing Iraq in international forums after the marginalization and neglect he was subjected to.

Al-Majidi told Agency: “We apologize for not completing the journey and for not being able to represent our country, Iraq, in the upcoming events for several reasons, most notably the long, arduous distances and the high costs of participation, which made it difficult for us to continue, and for which we did not receive support commensurate with the effort we exert and the expenses that we bear part of.”

He added that while representing the Iraqi national team, he achieved the gold medal for Arab Youth and the bronze medal for the Arab Games in Algeria, in addition to obtaining fifth place in the World Youth Championship in Spain in a tournament in which 73 boxers representing the world’s teams participated, concluding his speech by saying: “We wish our national team boxers success in the upcoming events.”
