Expatriate Iraqi female players summoned to national football team camp in Baghdad (photos)

/ On Monday, Asaad Al-Saadi, a member of the Iraqi Athletes Association Abroad, revealed that expatriate female players have been summoned to participate in the training camp of the Iraqi women’s national team held in the capital, Baghdad.

The head of the body accredited by the Iraqi Football Association told Agency, “Great efforts were made through years of communication, meetings and travel between countries, which culminated in the discovery of Iraqi female players from abroad by members of the body.”

Al-Saadi added, “The invitation to the players to participate with their colleagues and join the women’s national team training under the supervision of coach Saleh Radhi in Baghdad was approved, with the aim of selecting the most prominent among them and including them in the national team roster in order to establish a team that competes with the teams of strong countries in important upcoming external tournaments and events.”

He explained that “the players who will come to Baghdad to join the national team and undergo tests are: Zahraa Ali, Tofin Saleh, Rojin Shirwan, Hiran Karim, Helen Faraj, Huda Khalaf, Taiba Naeem Khalaf, Sarah Hani, Sanaa Saadi, Rusul Al-Khafaji, Rania Mahmoud, Ahlam Saeed, and Lina Al-Rikabi from Sweden, Fatima Abdul Rahim and Lara Al-Kandani from Spain, Aya Kazim and Diana Daoud from Romania, Siham Khamis from Australia, Maryam Al-Dakhil from Belgium, Hasno Saeed from Germany, Fay Al-Qaimi from England, Yasmine Issa from Denmark, Nour Al-Jawahiri from the Netherlands, and Nour Mustafa from Saudi Arabia.”

Al-Saadi confirmed that “most of the expatriate players hold Iraqi passports and documents,” noting that “if the expatriate players are present with the distinguished players of the local league, we will have a team that competes with the greats of Asia and may qualify for the next World Cup tournaments.”
