Analysts from the digital sector ask the new government that is about to begin on October 1, to accelerate the law of cybersecurityaccording to the digitalization that we are experiencing and the rapid arrival of artificial intelligence.
Miguel Oswaldo Zárate Martínezlaw and IT analyst at the firm Zárate Abogadossaid that it is urgent to create a law that allows us to standardize or have a digital security model like that of Europao USA, but we don’t even have specialized organizations.
He pointed out that the main challenge right now in some way is data privacy and that the new digital instances ensure that a level of cybersecurity.
He said that with new legislation there should be no pretexts for violating the confidentiality rights of each of the data that establish for both private initiative and public administration.
He added that the new federal administration must provide the corresponding authorities with tools and weapons to stop cybercriminals, because although it is true that the financial sectors and companies are being wholesale y violated, The population is also being affected, even with virtual kidnappings.
If the law advances on the digital issue, great care must be taken, said the analyst, so that these changes and new regulations do not harm other people’s rights. While Jorge Osorio, firm security analyst Infosecurity México, said that the lack of a Cybersecurity Law It prevents us from knowing exactly how many crimes exist, what types of crimes and sanctions would be applied.
He explained that according to Condusef, per year there are claims for close to 17 billion pesos for digital fraud, which can happen in various modalities and forms such as the usurpation of online stores, mobile devices or any type of digital media where a transaction or negotiation can be carried out. .
Osorio affirmed that a country where agency systems such as Mexican Petroleum, he SAT and some others, policies and guidelines must immediately be modified and updated, even for military entities, and a new cybersecurity law could help more clearly pursue attackers or hackers.
He said that we must work with other countries to carry out joint research and exchange of information, because many of these effects do not even come from the same country, or do not come from a single country. He recommended that users check that their data in the cloud or on servers is not in other countries that even host it in a third country, which makes them vulnerable to a cyber attack.
He added that having servers in different countries complicates the investigation, monitoring and capture of cybercriminals.
“I think that having a cybersecurity law could help those types of collaborations with the FBI and the CIA in an easier way and if written correctly, cooperation protocols can be established that are approved. That is, they help communication between organizations flow without so many bureaucratic obstacles,” estimated the digital security consultant.
