Global gas production in 2024 will increase by 2.8%, to 4.162 trillion cubic meters, with approximately a third of production coming from North America and a fifth from the CIS countries, according to the February report of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), Day reports. It is specified that gas production in 2023 increased by 0.8%, to 4.048 trillion cubic meters. The growth was mainly in North America, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region, while production in Europe and the CIS countries decreased.

In the United States, growth was estimated to be 42 billion cubic meters last year compared with the previous year, mainly due to increased production of associated gas from shale oil fields, the report said. In the Middle East, gas production increased by approximately 19 billion cubic meters, with Iran, Qatar and Saudi Arabia making the main contribution to this growth, the GECF also noted.
