iPhones are well protected from cyber threats, but elite hackers still regularly hack them. This was reported in a new article by Macworld, Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.
Although iPhones have a reputation for being virus-free, in fact, Macworld writes, this is not true. There are malware programs for Apple smartphones, but it is almost impossible to download them by accident.
As a rule, the distribution of viruses for iPhone is carried out by elite hackers. They do this for the purpose of spying on high-ranking officials of various countries, their entourage and other influential people. A striking example of such attacks, according to Macworld, is a series of scandals related to the infection of iPhones with the Pegasus spy virus, developed by the Israeli company NSO Group.
“As we’ve found, iOS viruses are rare, and when they do occur, they don’t affect regular iPhone users. However, that doesn’t mean Apple smartphone users shouldn’t be careful,” Macworld writes.
The publication warned that, unlike viruses, there are many inventive phishing attacks for the iPhone that actually pose a threat to ordinary people.
