Experts talk about the rise in the number of phishing sites masquerading as Pornhub

by time news

More than 60 Pornhub clone domains have appeared on the Internet since the beginning of September, Kommersant reported, citing Infosecurity a Softline company. Co-founder of the StopPhish project Yuri Drugach noted that in September-October there were only a few such sites.

Experts from Infosecurity a Softline company talked about a new type of pages that scammers use to steal passwords from VKontakte accounts: Russian users cannot access a porn site without authorization through the social network.

The head of the special services block of the company Sergey Trukhachev added that visually, clone sites cannot be distinguished from the authorization page for users from Russia. According to him, fraudsters began to protect their sites from detection by automated methods, Trukhachev noted. Attackers send a potential victim a link to a porn video that leads to a phishing site that requires authorization via VKontakte. Infosecurity noted that the logins and passwords of social network accounts have always been in price, because they make it possible to commit “a wide range of frauds”.

Drugach clarified that attackers can also collect e-mail login information, bank card details and other information when they ask the victim to go through phone verification. Scammers can also distribute malware through their websites.

In VKontakte, the publication was told that they had not noticed an increase in fraud on their platform. The company said that to protect accounts, you need to use two-factor protection and not enter your username and password on unverified sites.

Since July 2017, Russian Pornhub users must go through mandatory authorization through VKontakte to confirm their age. Roskomnadzor told the publication that now the site is not being blocked entirely: according to court decisions, some of its pages are blocked.
