Experts: “Ukrainian refugees should be vaccinated against measles”

by time news

In Ukraine and a number of other Eastern European countries, the vaccination rate is considerably lower. “In Ukraine, it has evolved from 40 to 80 percent in recent years, but that is too little to prevent circulation of the virus,” says Van Damme. “We therefore recommend that Ukrainian refugees be vaccinated against measles, but also against polio, whooping cough and tetanus. And we should take advantage of this opportunity to give Belgians between 20 and 40 years of age who are not vaccinated an extra dose so that we can run no risks.”
