Expired Vaccine given to two month old baby in kannur

Kannur: A police case has been registered against a doctor in the case of injecting an expired drug (Expired Vaccine) to a two month old child in Mattannur, Kannur. Mattannur police have registered a case against Dr Sudheer of Asraya Hospital. Currently the child has no health problems.

On the 18th of this month, a unique two – month – old daughter was vaccinated at Asraya Hospital. Five injections worth four thousand rupees were taken together. When he returned home in the evening, he checked the papers he had received from the hospital and came to know that he had been injected with expired medicine.

He went to the hospital with a complaint but was dismissed by the staff saying it was a mistake. The family then lodged a complaint with the Mattannur police. Police have registered a case against Dr Sudhir. However, Dr. Sudhir has absolved himself of responsibility by saying that he was a suitable employee of a hospital.

Atulya’s family had lodged a complaint with the Drug Control Officer at the hospital. Nine expired drugs were recovered from the hospital. The hospital explained that the drugs were taken to return to the company.
