Exploratory excavations continue on the territory of the convent in the Brest Fortress

Excavations on the territory of the Holy Nativity of the Mother of God convent are carried out by experienced soldiers of the 52nd separate specialized search battalion. According to the Telegram channel of the Brest City Executive Committee, in a crater formed after the explosion of a powerful projectile during the war, the remains of several people were found at a depth of about two meters, whose bodies were thrown here, presumably without clothes. In addition, 13 cartridges were found, made in the period from the beginning of the twentieth century until the Second World War.

There are also historical artifacts from much earlier periods. So, during the excavations, several ancient coins were found. Among them are a denarius of Vladislav III Varneichik of the 15th century, two coins of the Commonwealth with a face value of 1.5 grosz issued in 1623 and 1630, three solidus of Jan II Casimir of the 17th century, as well as a 1 kopeck coin of the Russian Empire of 1818.
