An Explosion in Lövstalöt Residential Area in Uppsala

An explosion rocked the Lövstalöt residential area north of Uppsala on Saturday evening, prompting an immediate response from emergency services. The alarm was raised at 22:00, and authorities have since been working to determine the cause of the explosion.

According to Roland Komaromi, press spokesperson at Polis Region Mitt, “At the moment, I can’t say much, but I can confirm that there was some kind of explosion. We are in the process of investigating what exactly happened.”

It has been reported that the police had been routinely monitoring the area during the autumn, with a surveillance camera also set up in the residential area.

Sören Gustavsson, team leader at SOS Alarm, confirmed that everyone was safely evacuated from the affected house before emergency services arrived. Fortunately, there have been no reports of serious injuries or ongoing fires as a result of the explosion.

One individual has been taken to the hospital for a check-up, but their injuries are not believed to be severe. Thomas Sjöberg, commanding officer at the rescue service, stated that the person was conscious and able to communicate.

The damage from the explosion is primarily to a villa and an adjoining garage, according to Sjöberg. Witnesses at the scene have described substantial damage to the affected property, with a freelance photographer for SVT reporting that it appeared to be a significant detonation.

As the investigation into the cause of the explosion continues, the affected area remains cordoned off. Authorities are urging residents to avoid the immediate vicinity as they work to ensure the safety and security of the area. Updates on the situation will be provided as they become available.
