PHOENIX – A massive fire accompanied by explosions has been reported in Phoenix, as captured by ADOT cameras. The incident took place near 40th Street and Washington and is said to involve a propane business.

Phoenix Fire officials were alerted to the scene at approximately 5:00 p.m., following a report of a fire at the propane business. Multiple propane tanks reportedly exploded, with some even traveling hundreds of yards away from the fire due to the force of the blast.

The area is now scattered with hundreds of propane tanks, and fire crews are working to let the tanks off-gas while battling the structure fire. Despite the proximity to Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, airport officials assure the public that operations remain unaffected. However, as a precautionary measure, all staff and animals from the Arizona Animal Welfare League, located in the vicinity, have been evacuated and are safe.

Valley Metro, the local transportation authority, has announced that all westbound light rail trains will only travel as far as the 50th Street and Washington station, while eastbound trains will stop at 38th Street and Washington. Shuttle bus services have been requested to assist commuters.

Thankfully, no injuries have been reported thus far. Fire investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the fire. As of 7:30 p.m. on July 20, fire crews were still present at the scene.

In updates related to the incident, Phoenix Fire officials displayed a propane tank that had exploded during the fire, providing visual evidence of the magnitude of the incident.
