Explosions rock Lviv as Russia’s missiles strike Ukraine
Lviv, the largest city in western Ukraine, was rocked by a series of explosions as local officials reported that Russia’s invading forces launched nearly 30 missiles in overnight air strikes. The attack has resulted in extensive damage to residential buildings and infrastructure.
In a social media post, Lviv’s mayor, Andriy Sadovyi, shared a video showing himself standing by a massive crater and a heavily damaged apartment building. Tragically, the neighboring region of Volyn also experienced strikes, resulting in at least three reported fatalities. Both Lviv and Volyn share borders with Poland.
Ukraine’s air force managed to intercept 16 of the approximately 28 missiles launched, according to officials. This successful interception prevented further destruction and loss of life.
