‘The Boys’, the popular superhero series on Prime Video based on the eponymous comics by Garth Ennis, premiered yesterday with the final of its fourth season after eight episodes filled with action, gore, blood, bad decisions, and its usual cheeky and sarcastic tone delivered by well-known characters such as Butcher, Homelander, Deep, Starlight, Hughie, A-Train, and many others. And, as it couldn’t be any other way, the last seconds of the season revealed a post-credit scene – or rather, in the middle of them – that hints at what’s to come in the fifth and final season, putting Homelander himself in check. We warn of spoilers from the next paragraph onward.
“Super” Family Problems
Thus, after the boys’ hunt at the hands of various Supes under Homelander’s orders – with the exception of Butcher, who seems to escape and gets lost on the road – the credits roll for the last episode; an episode, by the way, that has officially changed its title following the real-life attack on Donald Trump this week due to its parallels with the plot, with reality, once again, surpassing fiction. In any case, in the middle of the credits, a revealing scene occurs that hints at what is to come in the fifth and final season of ‘The Boys’.

So much so that we see Homelander (Antony Starr) entering a secret room along with the new president of the United States, where there is a cryogenic chamber; before seeing who is asleep there, we can already imagine their identity… Yes, it is Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles), a character who had a significant role in the third season and seems set to return for the fifth and final season to turn Homelander’s universe upside down.
And after appearing in a dream-like cameo in the spin-off ‘Gen V’, Soldier Boy will surely be key to the series’ conclusion after being neutralized by Maeve at the end of season three and secretly cryogenically frozen. Let’s not forget that Soldier Boy is Homelander’s father and, in turn, the grandfather of an unleashed Ryan after escaping from Butcher’s grasp. All this foreshadows a “Super” family reunion that could end up like a real disaster, leading to a truly bloody and gruesome conclusion for ‘The Boys’.
