Exports of nickel ores brought in 874.4 million US dollars in value for the country, followed secondly by the products of companies in the Free Zone at 805.7 million US dollars. This all follows an increase in global demand. In terms of imports, purchases of raw materials used in the production processes of local companies were the first in terms of value (1,198.6 million US dollars).

Exports under the “Free Zone” regime increased by 12.1% in 2022 with a nominal value of 805.7 million US dollars, compared to 718.7 million US dollars in 2021. The increase is driven by exports classified in the textile category. Textiles occupy first place among products exported by the “Free Zone”, representing 74.1% of the total. In 2022, their nominal value was 596.7 million US dollars, compared to 506.7 million US dollars in 2021. The volume shipped has increased significantly over the last three years while the average price tends to stabilize.
