jpnn.comSURABAYA – Customs and Excise and Tanjung Perak Police thwarted an attempt to export motor vehicles involved in an international network of receiving criminal funds.

In the action, as many as 2 cars and 34 motorbikes as fiduciary/leasing collateral were confiscated from the suspect before being exported to Timor Leste.

Acting Head of Tanjung Perak Customs Irwan Sakti Alamsyah said that this action was the result of a public report to the Tanjung Perak Police regarding an alleged plan to export goods from the crime of motor vehicle embezzlement.

Following up on this information, Tanjung Perak Customs conducted an analysis and found two export documents containing motor vehicles destined for Timor Leste in a condition where they had not yet departed for export.

In accordance with Minister of Trade Regulation Number 22 of 2023 as amended by Minister of Trade Regulation Number 10 of 2024 concerning Goods Prohibited from Export and Minister of Trade Regulation Number 23 of 2023 as amended by Minister of Trade Regulation Number 11 of 2024 concerning Export Policy and Regulation, motor vehicle commodities are not regulated in terms of export trade so that physical export inspections are not carried out by Customs.

“According to the export regulations, no physical inspection was carried out, but for security purposes due to information and reports from the Tanjung Perak Police, we also carried out a joint physical inspection,” said Irwan Sakti Alamsyah in his statement, Wednesday (24/7).

From the results of the joint physical inspection, he continued, it was true that his party found two cars and 34 motorbikes as fiduciary collateral or leaseg who is suspected of being involved in a criminal case involving international money-handling networks.

He added that the disclosure of the criminal case of receiving motor vehicles in an international network was a form of good synergy between law enforcement agencies in the Tanjung Perak Port environment. (mrk/jpnn)
