Jumuiya Heads of State decide to extend the mandate of the regional force in the DRC

Nairobi (Kenya), 5 September 2023 – In harmony with Burundi’s foreign policy, including its defense policy, His Excellency Ndayishimiye Evariste, Major General and President of Burundichaired the 22nd Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State of Jumuiya [1] this Tuesday.

In his presence were the following heads of state: Son Excellency Samoei Ruto William, President of Kenya; Her Excellency Suluhu Samia Hassan, President of Tanzania; His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of South Sudan; His Excellency Kagame Paul, President of Rwanda; Madam Alitwala Kadaga Rebecca, Ugandan Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Mr. Sama Lukonde Kyenge Jean-Michel, Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

They jointly decided to extend the mandate of the regional force by three months [2] of Jumuiya in eastern DRC, which will be in force from September 9 to December 8, 2023.

On the geopolitical level, among the seven member countries of Jumuiya, only Burundi and the DRC are not members of the Jumuiya. Commonwealth. All the other countries are lined up behind the GUAN [3]at the origin of the destabilization of the African Great Lakes region since 1989. Since 2022, the world has become multipolar with BRICS
