“This agreement is part of the continuity of the judicial cooperation protocol between the two countries, and we consider it as a great appreciation for the solid historical partnership uniting the Kingdom of Morocco and the Kingdom of the Netherlands,” said Mr. Ouahbi, quoted in the press release.

Through this convention, “the judicial process will be strengthened by the consolidation of mechanisms to combat cross-border impunity,” he added.

For her part, the Dutch minister stated that “organised crime knows no borders and that international criminal networks are working continuously to strengthen their illegal practices in the area of ​​arms, drug and human trafficking. They are constantly changing their smuggling methods in order to transfer illegally acquired money abroad for laundering”.

“This also applies to our investigative services, which are increasingly working closely with other countries to prevent criminals from seeking safe havens outside their borders,” added Ms Zegerius, who was accompanied by a high-level delegation.

“With this document, we are strengthening the strong relations that we have built with Morocco, and we are intensifying the joint fight against cross-border organized crime,” she concluded.

The meeting was marked by the examination of a series of issues related to coordination in the field of judicial cooperation, the fight against organized crime, money laundering, the fight against suspicious banking transactions, financial delinquency and the confiscation of criminal assets.

According to the statement, the meeting aimed to strengthen ties of friendship, facilitate legal and judicial cooperation between Morocco and the Netherlands and exchange knowledge, experiences and good practices in order to serve the interests of both countries.
