Rheinbach. Alfred Eich, chairman of “Rheinbach Hilft”, was able to accept an extraordinary donation last Saturday.

A decommissioned Mercedes Benz LF 10 fire engine from the Rheinbach Volunteer Fire Department was destroyed as part of a street campaign in Weierstrass. in Rheinbach handed over to “Rheinbach Hilft” by Mayor Ludger Banken. The vehicle comes from the fleet of the Neukirchen fire engine and was taken out of service for age and technical reasons. In his speech, Banken emphasized the agreement in the city council to donate the fire engine for Ukraine to “Rheinbach Hilft” and not to market it.

“We are pleased that this fire engine will continue to serve well in Ukraine. I would particularly like to thank the ‘Rheinbach-Hilft’ association for its commitment to the war zone around Kharkiv, which will be setting off this weekend to bring relief supplies and the fire engine there. Alfred Eich, who accepted the vehicle key from the mayor, thanked the city of Rheinbach for the valuable donation. The vehicle will be transferred to Kharkiv as part of the ninth aid tour of “Rheinbach Hilft”, which started last weekend.

Eich explained that this tour is accompanied by two transport vehicles with relief supplies, including high-quality medical equipment. The members Frank Cremer and Alfred Eich will leave earlier with the fire engine.

Followed by the deputy chairmen Andreas Klassen and Manuel Nägele, who drive the transport vehicles on the over 2,500 kilometer journey to Kharkiv.
