The Kingdom is represented at this meeting by the Moroccan ambassador to Saudi Arabia and permanent representative to the OIC, Mustapha Mansouri, as well as the deputy permanent representative to this Organization, Othman Rahho.

This meeting comes at the call of the OIC to examine the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza, which has caused the destruction of infrastructure, schools, hospitals, places of worship and historical sites, as well as the displacement of around 2 million Palestinians.

On this occasion, OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha called on the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities and take the necessary measures to bring Israel into compliance with international law and to stop its attacks that threaten regional and international peace and security. He also called for an immediate and comprehensive halt to the aggression against the Gaza Strip and to avoid the threat of a global regional war.

Mr. Brahim Taha, who was speaking at the opening session of this meeting, in the presence of the Gambian Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the 15th Islamic Summit, Mamadou Tangara, Ministers of Foreign Affairs, heads of delegations of the Executive Committee and OIC member states, stressed the need to combine efforts to push Israel to implement the resolutions of international legality. He also called for taking the necessary measures to implement the latest advisory judgment of the International Court of Justice on the illegality of the Israeli occupation.

The OIC Secretary General also denounced all the illegal steps taken by Israel, including the adoption of resolutions opposing the creation of a Palestinian state, and the classification of UNRWA as a terrorist organization, calling for more political and financial support for this UN agency to enable it to fulfill its vital role in providing essential services to Palestinian refugees and to alleviate the suffering of the Gazans.

In this regard, he urged the international community to sponsor a political process aimed at ending the Israeli occupation and establishing peace on the basis of the two-state solution in accordance with the resolutions of international legality, to expand the recognition of the Palestinian state and to support its membership in the United Nations.

In this regard, Mr. Brahim Taha praised the colossal efforts made by the Ministerial Committee, under the chairmanship of Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, resulting from the extraordinary joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh.
