As a result, it has been reported that heatwaves of more than 40 degrees Celsius will affect areas including the southeast of Shaanxi Province in Northwest China and the northeastern areas of Zhejiang Province in East China.

China has been recording extreme temperatures since last June. A total of 71 national meteorological stations in northern China’s Hebei province have recorded record temperatures. Among them, Lingshu city recorded a temperature of 44.2 degrees Celsius.

Severe heat will prevail in the southern and southeastern parts of China until the 26th. The Global Times news agency has informed that many parts of the country will experience extremely high temperatures from the 31st to the 15th of August.

In some cities in China, people are faced with dual challenges such as heat waves and corona infections. The number of corona cases in China has been increasing continuously for the past few months. Corona infection is spreading rapidly in the major cities of the country including Beijing, Shanghai and Jilin.

It is reported that the spread of this infection has increased due to the mutated corona. In the last 24 hours, 580 people have been confirmed to be infected with the corona virus in local cities in China. It has been reported that the highest number of corona cases have been reported in Shanghai. After this, the corona prevention works have been implemented very intensively.

Meanwhile, Shanghai recorded a temperature of 40.9 degrees Celsius last Wednesday. This is the highest temperature recorded since 1973. A 54 red alert has been issued for extreme heat in Hangzhou city in east China’s Zhejiang province. This is the highest number of temperature alerts issued in a single day.

In the first half of the current year, China’s strict lockdowns and testing procedures have severely affected people’s lifestyles. In this context, a severe heatwave warning has been issued in China for the next 12 days. Due to this, 90 crore people may be affected. Half of China’s land area will be affected within a week.

These prolonged heat waves are threatening people’s lives and crops. The Global Times news agency has reported that electricity consumption in China will also exceed record levels. People in China are still not fully recovered from the Corona pandemic. In this environment, a warning has been given that the heat wave is going to challenge them and turn the normal life upside down. Thus, the government has to take appropriate measures to protect the Chinese people.
