The meteo/National Observatory of Athens had released satellite data from before and after the bad weather in the area, showing the evolution of the flooded areas in Lake Karla.

Flooding began on 6 September 2023 in the area as the level of the Pinios and its tributaries rose, reaching approximately 110,000 hectares of flooded land two days later on 8 September.

Flooded areas reached their highest point on September 16, covering an area of ​​about 190,000 hectares, with Lake Karla even surpassing the area it had before it dried up in 1962.

It is worth noting that the area of ​​the lake before the floods, in August 2023, amounted to approximately 35,700 acres.
