F-16 Fighter Modernization; Helping Pakistan not to threaten India: US explains

by time news

Washington: “Helping Pakistan to modernize F-16 fighter jets is not to intimidate India,” the US has clarified. The US gave Pakistan the latest F-16 fighter jets to fight terrorism years ago. Pakistan and America had a close friendship during that period. However, now that Pakistan is leaning towards China, America has strengthened its relationship with India.

Both countries work closely in international affairs. At the same time, India continues to maintain close friendship with its old close friend, Russia. America doesn’t like it. In this case, the United States has suddenly announced assistance to modernize Pakistan’s F-16 fighter jets at a cost of Rs 3,600 crore. The US is believed to be announcing the aid to warn or intimidate India, which is closely allied with Russia.

India strongly opposed this. In this context, US Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Affairs Ellie Ratner said in an interview yesterday, “The assistance to Pakistan to modernize F-16 fighter jets was announced, related to bilateral defense cooperation. “It is not protesting or threatening its friendship with Russia, as India seems to think,” he said.
