(ANSA) – ROME, SEPTEMBER 11 – Valtteri Bottas won the Sprint race of the Italian GP in Monza but the pole position in the Formula 1 World Championship that will be held tomorrow will be Max Verstappen, given that the Finn of Mercedes will be penalized by 20 positions on the grid for changing the engine. In the mini-race of 18 laps for 100 km on the Lombard circuit, which dictates the starting order in the race, the Dutch Red Bull finished second ahead of Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris in McLaren and Lewis Hamilton, fifth in the Mercedes . Sixth for the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc, seventh for the other Red of Carlos Sainz. Bottas has however forfeited the three points in the standings foreseen for the winner of the Sprint Race, two went to Verstappen and one to Ricciardo. The Australian will start in the front row alongside the Dutchman, in the second row Norris and Hamilton, not brilliant in Saturday’s race, and in third the two Ferraris of Leclerc and Sainz. The Sprint Race then saw Antonio Giovinazi close in eighth place with Alfa Romeo, who preceded Sergio Perez with Red Bull and Lance Stroll with Aston Martin.
