The Board of Directors of Correios approved, this Friday afternoon (3), the nomination of the name of lawyer and university professor Fabiano Silva for its presidency. The new manager promises to completely remove the public company from the privatization process initiated by Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

In addition to blocking the delivery of the state company to the private sector, Fabiano Silva arrives at the position with the management goals of making the Post Office more competitive and valuing functionalism.

One of the coordinators of Prerogativas, a group that was notable for its opposition to Operation Lava Jato and the arrest of Lula (PT), the new president of Correios has worked at the Ministry of Labor and Employment, the Foundation of Federal Economists and the Institute of Social Security of the Municipality of São Paulo, then under the management of Marta Suplicy (MDB).

He is director of institutional relations at the São Paulo Lawyers Institute (IASP) and was vice-president of the rights and prerogatives commission of the São Paulo section of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB).

Graduated in law from the Pontifical Catholic University (PUC) of São Paulo, Fabiano Silva is currently a doctoral student at the institution and has specialization in strategic management of companies.

The project that paved the way for the privatization of the Post Office was approved by the Chamber of Deputies in August 2021 by 286 votes in favor and 173 against. Since then, it has been stalled in the Senate – currently awaiting consideration by the Economic Affairs Committee.
