jpnn.comJAKARTA – Former Italian national team player Fabio Cannavaro has been appointed coach of Croatian League club Dinamo Zagreb.

Cannavaro will be officially introduced as the new coach of Dinamo Zagreb on January 3.

Dinamo Zagreb brought in Fabio Cannavaro to become the new coach because they were impressed by the Italian man’s success when he was still coaching Chinese League clubs.

Previously, Dinamo Zagreb had fired coach Nenad Bjelica due to a series of bad results, namely only achieving four wins from the 11 Croatian League matches that had been played.

“We want changes regarding the results in the Croatian League. “The new coach cultivates the style of play we need to restore dominance in the Croatian League, he builds games and applies dominance,” said Dinamo Zagreb Sports Director, Marko Maric, as quoted on the club’s official website.

“This is about extraordinary charisma which can not only provide a wealth of rich playing experience, but also coaching, considering that he had good results in China, namely becoming champion,” he continued.

Under Bjelica’s coaching, Dinamo Zagreb recorded two wins, two draws and two defeats in the Champions League.

Dinamo Zagreb’s two wins were over Slovan Bratislava and RB Salzburg.
