Face Pay launched at all MCC stations

The Face Pay fare payment system has been launched today at all stations of the Moscow Central Ring (MCC), the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of the capital reported on Saturday.

The facial recognition fare payment service began to function in test mode in Moscow on September 3. You can connect to Face Pay in the Moscow Metro app, the department noted.

Deputy Mayor of Moscow Maxim Liksutov said that the service is available at 85 turnstiles of 31 MCC stations. According to him, more than 190,000 users have already connected to the system, who have made over 33 million biometric passes.

“We see that the demand for the service is growing, and we will definitely increase the number of turnstiles with payment by biometrics. The facial recognition fare payment service operates at 281 metro and MCC stations, ”Liksutov’s department quotes.

Face Pay has been launched at metro stations since October 15, 2021. On July 26, Liksutov said that payment using Face Pay is planned to be scaled up: in the future it will also become available for passengers on regular river routes, and the possibility of using it in Aeroexpress is also being considered.
