Facebook blams networks from china; they campaigns with disinformation on Covid origins | Facebook accusation: Chinese networks spread false propaganda about Govt

by time news

According to the meta platform, Chinese networks have been involved in an online campaign to spread misinformation about how Kovit-19 appeared.

According to the Meta report, Facebook accounts linked to Chinese information campaigns have promoted the ideas of a fake Swiss biologist, Wilson Edwards. He said the United States was conducting research into how COVID-19 appeared and was interfering in its efforts.

The Swiss biologist, who claims to be a fake, said Facebook had removed a total of 524 Facebook accounts, 20 pages, four groups and 86 Instagram accounts after reviewing public reports centering on his opinion.

The claims were widely circulated by Chinese state-run media outlets such as the Global Times, People’s Daily and CGTN, according to Meta in its annual Enemy Threat Report.

Describing the social media campaign as “mostly unsuccessful”, Meta said it was aimed at English – speaking audiences in the United States and the United Kingdom, as well as Chinese – speaking audiences in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Tibet.

Both Twitter and Facebook are banned in China (Twitter and Facebook are banned in China), but it is noteworthy that Beijing frequently uses both American social networks to improve its position in the international arena.

“Everything Wilson Edwards said on Facebook was unreliable,” Wilson said. “Wilson’s comments appeared in China.

In November, Meta said it had a network of accounts that spread fake news, adding that many of them were unreliable and that “some of them were real and belonged to employees of Chinese state-owned infrastructure companies, including Sichuan Silence Information Technology Co. Ltd. employees.”

During the campaign, Facebook claimed that the Virtual Personal Network (VPN) infrastructure was used to cover up its fake appearance, and that a profile photo of a Swiss biologist named Wilson Edwards appeared to have been created using the machine.

The BCC reports that the Swiss embassy has recently denied the existence of a man named Wilson Edwards.

The Swiss embassy recently said that there was no record of a Swiss citizen by the name of “Wilson Edwards” and that there were no academic articles in his name, and that the Chinese media’s insistence that he delete all of the alleged references confirm that Facebook’s allegations are true.
