Facebook unveils Ray-Ban Stories glasses with built-in cameras

by time news

Facebook has unveiled Stories, the first smart glasses ever created in partnership with eyewear maker Ray-Ban. The cost of the glasses will start at $ 299. In the US, UK, Italy, Australia, Ireland and Canada, the new accessory will be available from September 9th. The timing of the release of “smart” glasses to other markets is not reported.

The glasses received two 5-megapixel cameras built into the frame next to the lenses – during the shooting of a photo or video up to 30 seconds long, an LED indicator lights up, notifying others about the recording. The arms are integrated with miniature speakers and microphones that allow you to listen to music as well as make voice calls. The technical characteristics of Ray-Ban Stories were not disclosed, but it is known that they received a processor from Snapdragon, and the weight of “smart” glasses is 5 g heavier than regular Ray-Ban Wayfarers.

Ray-Ban Stories has a physical button to start shooting and supports Facebook Assistant voice commands. To work with photos and videos, the Facebook View application for smartphones on Android and iOS is provided. The glasses will come to market in 20 different lens options, including prescription lenses, and different frames, made in the style of classic Ray-Ban glasses – Wayfarer, Wayfarer Large, Round and Meteor.
