“The decisions made, we are all accountable”. Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, who decided at the last minute to participate in the return of her interior minister to Tourcoing, delivered a speech on Sunday centered on government cohesion and efficiency.

While Gérald Darmanin made known his ambitions for the next presidential election, Elisabeth Borne called on his ministers to “stay humble”. “There is still a lot of work to be done”she insisted, recalling the expectations of the French in terms of purchasing power, public services and security and demanding “visible results”.

“The time ahead of us must be all about action and hard groundwork to deliver results. This is how we will fight the populists and the extremes by leaving them their demagogic recipes.said the head of government, claiming her place as majority leader.

While listing the challenges awaiting the executive, the Prime Minister particularly welcomed the economic record of Bruno Le Maire, who stood out from Gérald Darmanin this weekend in reiterating its support for the Prime Minister.

Before the opening of the debates, Gérald Darmanin had himself subscribed to this approach: “We are here to defend of course the record of the President of the Republic who has done a lot. There are four years left and there is still a lot to do, I imagine..

Speaking before handing it over to the Prime Minister, the latter nevertheless recalled that “Fidelity and loyalty do not mean being silent to please”claiming its right and duty to formulate proposals for improvement for the good of the country.
