The Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEMéx) has consolidated its academic prestige through its 30 hospital medical specialties, taught in 57 hospital centers at the state level and in neighboring entities, such as Mexico City and Michoacán. This achievement highlights the quality and academic excellence that distinguishes this faculty.
In the State of Mexico, students of these specialties participate in eight main institutions: Institute of Health of the State of Mexico (ISEM), Institute of Mothers and Children of the State of Mexico (IMIEM), Institute of Social Welfare of the State. Mexico and municipalities (ISSEMyM), the Institute of Social Security of Mexico (IMSS Poniente y Oriente), the High Specialty Hospital in Zumpango, the Institute of Security and Social Services of State Workers (ISSSTE), and the Special Rehabilitation and Education Center (CREE). For the first time, UAEMéx has expanded a study program outside the State of Mexico, specifically at the General Hospital «Dr. Miguel Silva” of the Ministry of Health of Michoacán and the Decentralized Public Body of Health Services in Michoacán, where the specialty Mask and Face Surgery is offered.
In Mexico City, the specialties of Pediatrics, Neonatology, Anesthesia, General Surgery and Gynecology and Obstetrics are taught at the Pediatric Hospital “La Villa”, in the Enrique Cabrera Cossio Hospital, the “Dr. Belisario Domínguez” and Ajusco Medio General Hospital “Dra. Obdulia Rodríguez”, all related to the Ministry of Health of Mexico City (SEDESA).
Over the past decade, more than four thousand students have graduated from the UAEMéx’s medical and surgical specialty programs, demonstrating the university’s ability to train highly skilled professionals. In addition, 70 foreign students are currently studying in UAEMéx’s specialty programs, underscoring the international projection of the university.
The expansion of the postgraduate programs of the Faculty of Medicine of the UAEMéx to other entities is evidence of the institution’s commitment to the training of high-quality medical specialists, which benefits more patients and helps strengthen the system. health in Mexico.
