jpnn.com – Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Fadli Zon, said that Islamic countries are expected to unite to push for independence in Palestine.

He spoke as a member of the Executive Committee of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) representing the Asia Pacific Group at the 52nd meeting of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) or the parliamentary organization of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries at the Moroccan Parliament Building, Rabat, 10-11 September 2024.

“Islamic countries must unite and show real action for the struggle of the Palestinian people,” said Fadli in his press statement as quoted, Thursday (12/9).

He said Islamic countries could show real action to encourage Palestinian independence, such as boycotting products from Israel.

“One real action that can be taken is to promote the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement or Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions on all products affiliated with supporting the Israeli genocide in Palestine,” said Fadli.

It is known that the meeting was attended by PUIC Secretary General Mouhammed Khouraichi Niass who appreciated the DPR RI’s support for Palestinian independence.

Niass believes that the Indonesian House of Representatives continues to fight through various parliamentary diplomacy efforts, both through bilateral and multilateral channels.

Fadli on the other hand stated the readiness of the Indonesian House of Representatives to host the 19th PUIC Conference.
